Four Children Burnt to Death in Cholistan Fire

Bahawalpur: In a tragic incident, four children were burnt to death when a fire broke out in a hut in the Mooga Qasim Wala area within the jurisdiction of Dera War police station in Cholistan, approximately 70 kilometers from Bahawalpur.

According to reports, the deceased children were identified as two-year-old Bilal, one-year-old Muqaddas, four-year-old Aliza Bibi, and three-year-old Shabana Bibi.

Government sources stated that hundreds of laborers from Rajanpur had been brought to work on the sugarcane harvest on the farmland of a landlord, Chaudhry Bilal. These laborers were accommodated in makeshift huts at night.

The fire broke out when a 55-year-old woman, Naziran Mai, struck a matchstick to prepare tea in her hut. However, due to alleged negligence, the flames quickly spread, engulfing nearby huts. The children were trapped inside and could not escape. Naziran Mai herself suffered severe burns in the incident.

The grieving parents of the deceased children took their bodies to Rajanpur for burial. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow and grief over the tragic incident.
